Yves Delorme’s bedding collection for fall 2008 plays with some of the great themes in the history of textiles—damask, toile, and grand florals.
DUOMO: Like the dome of an Italian cathedral,
this damask sateen glows with golden
beauty. A galuchat-style reverse and
embroidered silk pillows complete a
bed as beautiful as any work of art..
GRANDFLORA: Bright, bold, and
unabashedly cheerful,
Grandflora is printed
with showy peonies, lilies, and orchids. Just for fun, the
pattern’s reverse features red and white candy stripes. Pierre Frey for Yves Delorme.
HERA: Inspired by
the English art
deco prints of
William Morris
and Liberty of
London, Hera
captures the
drama and
iridescence of
the peacock’s
striking feathers in Indanthren-dyed
shades of blue, green, and teal printed on
a taupe sateen background.
BYZANCE: This gloriously
oversized ruby and
copper damask
reverses to a regal
stripe—a magnificent
designer statement.
EOLE: (see Byzance photo for Eole sheets) Named for a Greek
mythological figure
likened to the god of
winds, Eole features
embroidered red ribbons wending gracefully around
a straight white bourdon border. A perfect study on a
simple frame in a white satin weave.
FAVORITE: Like the favored
one at court,
this toile can’t
help but garner
admirers.
A fresh
Wedgewood
blue background
reverses to a
taupe-y “greige”
version, each adorned with scenes of outdoor
theatricals.
FIONA: Black yarn-dyed stripes
in a satin weave alternate
with white percale on this
graphic pattern. Alone or
paired with coordinating
solids or florals, it’s a
design that will stand the
test of time. Pierre Frey
